October Beauty Favorites

October went by in a blur. For me, it was filled with birthdays, job interviews and some shopping trips now and then. That's probably why it wasn't that hard to find new products to put into my favorites. I have been enjoying finding new things and trying new looks. I definitely went a bit out of my comfort zone with some of these products and I'm happy I did.

I am always on the hunt for a good primer. Apart from foundation, primer is the one product I find hard to find a good one for my oily skin. A lot of people rave about the Benefit POREfessional. And while I would love to have this one, I don't want to spend so much money on a primer I'm not sure about. I've bought so many primers in the last years that people been raving about and always ended up being disappointed (why, oh why do I have oily skin?). Now, I have heard a couple people compare the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer to the one by Benefit. It is a lot cheaper which is why I picked it up. It doesn't "erase" the pores, but makes them look a lot smaller. My face looks softer whenever I put this on and that's why I like it. It doesn't do much for my oiliness but I'm somewhat used to that by now.

One day, I was doing some grocery shopping and was ready to pay when I spotted a magazine with the Sally Hansen All Fired Up nail polish attached. In my nail polish craze that I am at the moment, I had to pick it up and take it home. All Fired Up is a bright red with a slight orange undertone.

My favorite buy of the month must have to be the MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick that I couldn't get out of my head for so long and at some point decided to order. You can read my blog post on this gorgeous Lipstick here.

Talika Photo-Hydra Day is a moisturizer I got in this months Glossybox. I've been immediately drawn to this and was curious to try it out. It says to be "Much more than a moisturiser, PHOTO-HYDRA DAY is the 1st cream to use energy from natural light to delve deep into skin and moisturise it. Suffused in Hydra-Photo Beauty® and hyaluronic acid, this cream creates an effective water reservoir between and inside cells"
What this actually means and how it's supposed to work? I have no clue. But it has fast become my favorite moisturizer to use before my makeup. It leaves my skin smooth and hydrated.

I have gone through one of the Sleek Blushes in Rose Gold and even though it got cracked I still used it until there was barely any product left. I love this blush enough to have bought a second one of this. Sleek makeup is so inexpensive and their blushes are so pigmented. Rose Gold in particular is a stunning peach color with gold shimmer particles which suits so many different skin colors.

I am not much of a fan of eyeliner. I never really got the hang out of it and seemed to have picked up the wrong products. Trying to do a winged out line made me want to scratch of my eyes more than once (who hasn't tbh). After I saw a couple of photos on instagram and a video with the same look on Kathleenlights I fell in love with this kind of look and was determined to make winged liner work on me. I can't get my hands on the Colourpop stuff as they don't ship to Germany (WHY?) but heard good things about the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black. I couldn't find it in the first drugstore I went to (the nearest one obvs) but was determined enough to drive to the next city and look for it there. And finally, I love eyeliner! I love the brush that comes with this. It makes applying this gel eyeliner so much easier than with my Zoeva 317 Wing Liner brush (blog post of the Zoeva brushes here).

I love bold eyebrows and love to try out new brow products. I was on the hunt for the Anastasia dipbrow for so long but never could get my hands on it (sigh). As I saw the NYX Tame & Frame in Brunette as I ordered the Mac Lipstick, I had to order this one too. It is supposed to be a dupe for the dipbrow pomade. I have to admit, at first it is hard to work with this as it is so pigmented and looks heavy real soon. But once you get the hang out of it, you won't want to use anything else on your brows.

The last product in my favorites of this month is the Kiko Cream Crush Eyeshadow in 03 which is a cream eye shadow. On the website the color is also called Mat Light Mahogany (doesn't say on the packaging though). I loved to use this as a everyday kind of color through this month and couldn't seem to put it down.

  2. Rose Gold is just a drugstore holy grail product for me :) I can definitely confirm that the NYX Tame and Frame is essentially the same as the ABH version! This post has definitely reminded me I need to wear Viva Glam Miley more too xx

    1. That's good to know. I just really can't get my hands on the ABH one, so it is reassuring that it is the same. Viva Glam Miley is just so gorgeous. I love your blog btw xx
